IC:

Character name: Jade Singer Get it? It sounds like J.D. Salinger. A.K.A Summer Mane

Fandom: My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic (Comic)
Timeline: Post Twilight Sparkle micro issue; Show-wise: Mid season 2.

Age: Old enough to complain about the "kids these days". Her exact age is unknown but, shown to be a bit older than any of the 'mane' six.

~*Magical*~ abilities and strengths: Not much to say here. Like any unicorn she's well acquainted with simple telekinetic spells for manipulating tools, but other than that she's pretty normal. She's an exceptionally good author, having written a best seller right on her first try, the only problem was trying to match it. She's also good at organization, having worked as an archivist for Princess Celestia after she refused to publish any more of her work.

Appearance: She's an aged unicorn with a pair of reading glasses, she's a little bit taller than the other mares shown.

Background/Personality (A bit of headcanon): A bit disgruntled; Jade was once a very studious filly who enjoyed reading. Most of her life she spent writing stories for others, thinking of new ways to tell the same tired stories many ponies have heard before and make them new again, and basically sharpen her skill as a writer.

Many ponies enjoyed her work, but she always felt a bit too much. While good Jade never felt her writings were "great" like those of the great authors who came before her. Jade took many classes and jobs hoping to improve her skills and eventually surpass any limitations she had before(she even took a job as an assistant editor to help her catch grammatical mistakes). However thanks to this, she became a bit of a recluse, rarely leaving her home for anything other than her work, although every now and again she would go out for a swing dance if she felt like it.

There was never a never a minute wasted, typing on her typewriter. Literally going through dozens of drafts, making sure they were absolutely perfect. After years and years of this, Jade finally made her magnum opus and hit publications with her book "Canter in the Sky". To say it was a it hit would be an understatement, it was hailed as one of the great pieces of Equestrian literature. Jade couldn't have been more proud, after all the years of determination it all finally paid off, unfortunately this would all come crashing down.

More determined than ever, Jade would continue to write and make something that she felt was even better than her previous work, after dozens of drafts, she sent her book in, but nothing ever came of it. A little bit disheartened she decided to make another story, hopefully one that would make it to the presses. But again, it never made past the original pitch. She sent work, after work, to several different publications, but even with the few rewrites none of them would take it. The bar was set too high, none of books were on the same caliber as her previous book as far as the publishers were concerned, they wanted a hit she couldn't produce.

(Note: The below is definitely canon)

It hit Jade hard. No matter how hard she tried she couldn't live up to her original book, her life purpose was shattered, and there wasn't a thing she could do about it. Her attitude became colder and colder as time went on, not wanting to write anymore to a world that wouldn't appreciate it, even going as far as to hide her cutie mark and change her name. She hid from Equestria as best as she could, making sure "Jade Singer" singer disappeared. She eventually took a job as the royal archivist, she still loved books and reading, but not the same way she did before. Her whole outlook on life was now different, she became cynical and acted grumpy to whoever would talk to her outside of Celestia.

One day she broke her leg, and couldn't fulfill her usual duties. Stubborn she wanted to show that she could still do her work, despite the obvious pain she felt. Sensing this Celestia sent sompony to help Jade, a pony who's very close to Celestia and something a kindred spirit of sorts to Jade; Twilight Sparkle. After being tricked into letting her in by telling her she would be replaced if she didn't, Jade let Twilight do her usual job. And through the course of their meeting, she would learn Twilight was just as much as book lover as she was, if not more so. Her attitude would soften, and become more an more friendly, even thinking Twilight as a friend. During Twilight stay, she only had one rule; don't go into her personal office, a rule Twilight broke. Angered she ordered Twilight out, but she couldn't help but feel a bit conflicted about that, Twilight sadly marched out and told her about her original trick. Hearing that Jade couldn't help but laugh, because that's exactly what she would have done and did do for her first job. Jade saw herself in Twilight and decided to tell Twilight the truth and that she was Jade Singer, but Twilight knew this from the beginning and just wanted to be respectful and not say anything. She told Twilight about her past and Twilight told hers, they had a lot in common. Hearing this her attitude became lighter, and gained to confidence to write to the public again. While she's still a bit sour, she can see the sweetness in life again and is ready to embrace it.

Have you read up on how the game works?:Yes. Flamingferret, and you can earn, leech, or steal.

1st person sample: Here.

3rd person sample: The should have been shocking to Jade, but with Discord and whatnot it really isn't. Still she couldn't help but shake the feeling something was off here. The technology is far passed Equestria's standards, and to be honest, it's almost like something out of H.P. Hoofcraft, it's kinda unnerving in way.

Well there's not much she can do about it now, at the the very least nothing looks dangerous. What's this? A stack of Paperwork? Pfft, please filling out paperwork of any kind is second nature to her at this point, with a glow from her horn she fills it out with speed and precision and sets the stack in a pile for simple pickup. "Great. Now if you don't mind I'd to know what I'm doing-"

And here comes another stack...beautiful, okay, this is gonna be a bit a longer than expected, but this shouldn't be a problem. I mean it's a little paperwork right? Like before she fills them out, but before she can finish here comes another stack, and another stack, and another, before she knew it, there were pillars of paper standing before her, waiting to be filled. This is going to be a long day Jade thought melting at the pit of her stomach.

Questions?: Nope.

Did you put your characters name and fandom in the subject: Yessir.
